A pinnacle point in Manifest Destiny, the path that thousands took across the expanse of America, The Oregon Trail. From the mid 1800s, pioneers took to the open land to seek out better opportunities and new experiences. While it was an exciting opportunity, the hardships of traversing uncharted land were great and pioneers could never be totally sure as to what they would come across. This exhibit will examine how the land was procured by the United States, what it was like to take the journey through first hand accounts such as Francis Parkman, and challenges that pioneers faced such as conflicts with Native Americans.
