The Califoria Gold Rush of 1849 was one of the most important events of the 19th Century. When gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill, news spread like wildfire across the globe which lead to a massive population increase in California. Eventhough the gold rush lasted less than ten years the gold rush led to an economic spike the west coast had not seen, a population increase by almost three-hundred-thousand people, and much more.
