Salvation Narratives

Most salvation narratives depict chaos and tranquility; a direct reflection of the comparison between those who are damned and those who are saved. This motif is found religious medieval art that is endlessly manifested as salvation narratives. Religion acted as another mechanism for humans to understand what comes after their earthly life, and salvation narratives shape this “truth” for believers. The expression of this “truth” is seen specifically in these artworks, and grasp a compelling power over practitioners.
