Iconography in Byzantine Culture

Throughout the Byzantine culture there have been numerous amounts of historical art pieces throughout this time period, but what was extremely popular was the use of Icons through historical figures. The popular use of icons during the Byzantine empire was so largely inspired, it would go on to influence many other local pieces that was different from the Western world. Objects that stand out during this time period are the Icon with Saint Demetrios, the Icon with Virgin Eleousa, the Icon with Christ Pantocrator, and the Icon with St. Peter towards the late Byzantine.  These icons along with others allows us to open our emotions to Christ are are considered a work of both worship and Art.
