America's Imperialist Expansion

Home > About

The war with Spain in 1898, and the subsequent years of imperialist expansion, cannot be defined by one factor or reason. War with Spain wasn’t declared because of the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine, nor was it declared because of Theodore Roosevelt’s eagerness to wage war. All of the factors that will be discussed in these exhibits influenced each other and ultimately drove America into an era of Imperialism.
